Epic meltdown, preceded by a tussle, according to Griffin, while Maya called it a scrap. Both claimed mind melt as the cause.
I canceled our fun outing, put them both in their own rooms for quiet time (which means they can come out whenever they feel like they can be good household citizens). I nursed the baby down since it was quiet; Griffin emerged first, then his sister. She confessed that she actually had a good time exploring her room and felt much better. They each got a punishment for hitting their sib (putting the shoe area to rights and clearing the toys from the play area floor) and then we settled in to watch a movie of their choice, something about Tinkerbelle, while I worked on our budget and played with Pinterest (not necessarily on that order) while the baby slept on.
Toward the end of the movie Griffin quietly asked his sister if she really believed in fairies. Of course the answer was a resounding “Yes!” A few minutes later, he quietly said, “Me, too.”
I love the way you turned this afternoon around. Perfect quiet time sentence, perfect community service, then a relaxing movie. Perfection!
